Typhoon Mario caused flooding in Quezon City

Posted: 19 Sep 2014 12:01 AM PDT

I woke up at around 8 am and when I got out from our garage, water is penetrating thru our gate. I opened our gate and seen the flooding due to nonstop rains brought by Typhoon Mario (international name: Typhoon Fung-wong).

Streets in Metro Manila have become flooded and impassable as heavy rain continued in the Philippine capital and Northern Luzon. As tropical storm "Mario", international name Fung Wong, continue to bring severe rains , Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), raised the red rainfall warning this morning, September, 19, 2014, in Metro Manila and provinces of Rizal and Bulacan. Severe flooding is expected as heavy to intense rains continue.

Red rainfall warning means the rainfall amount is more than 30 millimeters and is expected in an hour. If it continues for three hours, 65 mm rainfall amount is expected.

Abuse. Who's to Blame? The NFL, Rice and Peterson? Yes, But So Are the 'Misogynist Colleagues In Congress' and Religion

Posted: 18 Sep 2014 11:06 AM PDT

Just imagine if the ancient Roman games in the Coliseum had two minute TV commercial breaks. During those two minutes, the Gladiators would stand around and talk to one another as we see when we attend a NFL game these days.
Gladiators weren't selected for their congeniality or intellectual prowess.
Battle skills and toughness was all that mattered.
So, do we expect our NFL running backs to have exceptional people skills?
No. They are warriors. The field is a battleground for 3 hours.
Americans want to watch a freight train lineman smash into and 'take out the quarterback from the opposing team'.
It's a war.

But no. Not when you leave the field.
These guys shouldn't knock their wives out in elevators or 'switch' their 4 year old for being disobedient.
There are no excuses for bad judgment and abuse.
But is all of what's wrong in America the NFL's or these player's fault?
As tired as we all are of this story about Rice, Peterson and whether the NFL knew more, we need to take a broader view of what causes this in our country.
That would be a story worth spending the time to get right.

So little attention is given by our media to those that truly deserve their scrutiny and to the misogynist's policies and belief systems that lead many to believe that their hatred or abuse of women is OK.
Have you closed an abortion clinic lately? Then you are a misogynist and guilty of what Ray Rice allegedly did.
Religion plays a role in this hatred of women and the spanking of children.
Have you 'spared the rod and spoiled the child'? Many parents still hit their children. Government endorses it in many conservative states.
Certain US Representatives who fail to vote for equal pay, or to strip away hard won protections for women, simply because the boy's club doesn't feel it's necessary are guilty and worthy of some notoriety from our press as Rice and Peterson.
It's our society that contributes to the larger problem of abuse.
When we allow those that are bigger and stronger to 'get away' without paying the consequences for their hurtfulness, it encourages others, out of ignorance or hatefulness, to act in the same way.
Prejudice against any individual, whether they be a wife or child of a NFL player , a gay person, a female employee that suffers sexual discrimination, or women that can't be leaders or elders in the Mormon Church should not be tolerated by any of us for any reason..ever.
But it isn't just the NFL and these two players that are to blame.
So let's take off the blinders and open up the conversation to include all that violate anyone's rights that are protected in this country.
