It sounded like a big bang ... almost like an explosion and then metal pipes rolling down the street. Woke me up at around 6 a.m.

Ice, Ice Baby - Atlanta Style

Posted: 12 Feb 2014 06:52 AM PST

Looks like folks learned their lesson from 2 1/2 weeks ago...this is Atlanta's downtown connector -- usually a logjam now totally devoid of cars.

The forecasters have been pretty much on the mark with their storm predictions and there's another 24 hrs of snow/ice/sleet/freezing rain to come.

Moroccan street food

Posted: 12 Feb 2014 03:56 AM PST

In June 2013, my wife and I spent 10 days in Morocco for holiday, first relaxing at the tranquil coastal town of Asilah and then exploring the culture and energy of Marrakech.

Central to our Marrakech experience were the lively souks in the old city, and we heartily immersed ourselves in the sounds, smells and flavours of street food. Spicy kebabs and marguez sausage, fried sardines, sticky sweet pastries, fresh olives, cactus fruit, spice stalls... what an incredible experience!

Icypocalypse has started...

Posted: 12 Feb 2014 03:21 AM PST

The Icypocalypse has begun. Went outside to pick up the newspaper which was surprisingly delivered this morning, currently 32 degrees and windy with rain and tiny ice pellets falling.

Both vehicles in our driveway have a coat of ice building all over them already, sidewalk/driveway/streets still just wet, but will probably freeze up during the day as the temp is expected to drop with continued precipitation...
