Occupy Nokia Live "Tent City" Breaking Dawn Part I

Posted: 11 Nov 2011 12:47 AM PST

They are at it again; Twilight fans unite! Fans from around the world began congregating late Wednesday night at Nokia Live in Los Angeles, California.  At 6 am Thursday morning the line-up began for fans to receive a wrist band. This entitled these die hard groupies to get into "Tent City"; a place for Twilight fans to gather for 4 days as they await the premiere of Breaking Dawn part 1 on Monday November 14th.

With tents and sleeping bags spread throughout Nokia Live, it could easily be mistaken as an "Occupy Nokia" movement, except this movement is all about  vampires and werwolves.  With a cult like following, those involved in this Twilight craze alert each other via social media; Twitter, Facebook, and texting. They have made connections and befriended people from all over the world.

Exactly why are these fans gathering from all around the world? They are hoping to catch a glimpse of the stars attending the premiere Monday, Nov.14th, an event they look forward to with each new release of theTwilight Saga.

Summit does have official rules and guidelines for what is referred to as "Tent City.  No early line-ups or unofficial lines were honored. A spokesperson for Summit said they are thrilled that so many fans turn out. This year there were more than they expected. They were busy setting up a few more areas to accommodate all the fans planning to camp out.

A Twi-Fi lounge, all compliments of Yahoo, kept the party going. With music, games, giveaways,  a chance to wear a wedding dress and pose with their favorite vampire... theseTwilight fans were thrilled.

Breaking Dawn Part I opens in theaters Friday November 18th.

Alaska Super Storm November 2011 in Nome, Alaska

Posted: 10 Nov 2011 02:48 PM PST

In Nome, Alaska on 11/9/11 between 2pm-5pm after a blizzard with 60 mph winds that occured the night before. First part of video shows East End Front Street  at around 2:30 where the waves were getting high a few hours  later same road but shooting from a friends balcony on Front Street with  the road torn up.  Snap shots are of my neighbor's roof, my car that someone or something ran into during the blizzard, other car than ran off the side of the roads.  At 3 minutes West Beach where minners have there cabins.  Water has risen to their cabins and there was a road that is now non-existent, this shot taken at about 2:30pm before high tide at 5pm.  A friend of ours who lives in one of those cabins moved to our house he night before, good thing he did.  Shots of bering sea and front street and last one is of a tired seal on the the snake river resting from being tossed by waves in the Bering sea, shot was taken on our way to West Beach on Airport Rd.

CMA Awards Honor Glen Cambell

Posted: 10 Nov 2011 06:10 AM PST

Nashville's Country Music Association honored a classic oldie tonight, Glen Campbell. The country and pop legend is battling Alzheimer's disease, and he has released what may feel will be his last album, and farewell tour.

For this reporter, it brought back the memories of the late 60's and 70's as a kid with those 45's, as Brad Paisley, Keith Urban, and Vince Gill sang "Wichita Lineman", "By The Time I get To Phoenix", and "Galveston".

Now my wife Roberta was another story. She actually cried during the performance, when she was a young gal in the early 70's, the wifey had a major 'puppy love' crush on the then superstar - yes, she wanted to marry him!

So, you will notice my humor - and wit - in this report, she did genuinely love him!

The CMA's finally did recognize a lot of new blood this year, with awards going to relative newcomers 'The Band Perry', 'Jason Aldean', and 'Miranda Lambert', among others. The production was top notch, we liked the three different stages: The Main in front, the middle, and the rear.

21 year old Taylor swift won 'the biggie' for the second time: Entertainer of The Year.

On ABC TV tonight. Grade: A

Electrical Storm in Sicily!

Posted: 09 Nov 2011 01:36 PM PST

A thunderstorm just south of Mt. Etna.  Apparently it dropped a lot of hail on our house as it passed over - unfortunately, I was putting my kids to bed during the hail so I missed it.  But I got some good pictures of the lightning before and after it passed over our house.  Electrifying!
